Yet another remarkable individual in my retreat formation said something so inspiring that I had to post about it. This one is about gratitude, and how we often overlook how blessed we are. We complain about all of the school work we have, that gas is too expensive, or that our house is dirty and we have to clean it. When explaining “acceptance” as one if her prioritized values, she told us something that her father had told her growing up and how it guides her in accepting whatever life has to offer her: “when life gives you lemons, give thanks, because some people don’t even get lemons.” Think about that next time life throws a rotting lemon at you. Be grateful for everything you’re blessed enough to have, even though it may not seem like a blessing.
